How the gospel empowers your life

Ancient Rome was the most powerful empire on earth. Its armies had no rivals and its conquests were unchallenged. And yet, the gospel of Jesus Christ, proclaimed by mostly uneducated, unarmed men and women, turned that pagan society upside down. What made the gospel so strong? Why was it such good news?

In Faith Against the Odds, Mark Finley and Steven Mosley take a historical look at just how the gospel has been able to shine despite powerful attempts to stifle it. They look especially at some little-known heroes of the faith whose lives lit up some of the darkest days of the Middle Ages. In doing so, they proclaim that the power of the gospel is still available to transform your life today. This book will show that God has fantastic plans for you—plans you desperately need to know about in order to have a faith against the odds.

  Mark Finley

Pastor Mark Finley and his wife Ernestine have been involved in Christian ministry for more than 35 years-preaching, teaching, offering spiritual growth workshops and presenting healthful lifestyle lectures. Pastor Finley served as It Is Written's speaker/director from 1991-2004, and he currently holds the title of speaker emeritus for the ministry. Pastor Finley is currently serving as a vice president for global evangelism for the world headquarters of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Pastor Finley draws from his years of experience in pastoral work to reach people from all walks of life. He and his wife have conducted more than 100 evangelistic series that have spanned the globe, and his sermons have been translated into 50 languages. In his efforts to reach people all over the world, Pastor Finley became a pioneer of satellite evangelism technology. As a result, millions attended his satellite evangelistic campaigns, NET '95, NET '96 and ACTS 2000.

Finley has written 60+ books, produced 16 video series and regularly contributes articles to numerous periodicals.
