Cast the First Stone
Dr. Keith Mack shares his pain and his faith in this honest account of his
son’s life and death. From a very young age, Steve was attracted to the ‘70's
culture of sex, drugs and rock-and-roll. As a Seventh-day Adventist, Dr. Mack
had trouble accepting the fact that his young son might be involved with drugs.
But Dr. Mack’s own battles with alcohol may have blinded him to the truth, and
created the environment that enabled his son.
When he did face the truth, Dr. Mack could find no support in the church or
community to help him rescue his son from the drug subculture. Brilliant but
rebellious, Steve tried repeatedly to turn his life around and find his path.
The Mack family’s strong faith in God created man opportunities and carried them
through many crises.
Although Steve ultimately lost his struggle with drugs, his unique spirit and
the love he shared with his family during his brief life shine through
triumphantly. Dr Mack hopes their story will help other families who are
struggling with addiction issues.
