The Heralds
The oldest continuous Gospel Quartet in the world, the Heralds have been
singing Christ’s praise since 1927. Three brothers – Louis, Wesley, and Waldo
Crane – and Ray Turner, began singing together as college students at
Southwestern Junior College. Since that time, 26 men have been a part of the
group.
However, the Heralds are still as fresh and contemporary as they were
three-quarters of a century ago. Always exploring new sounds and harmonies, this
premier music group has received numerous awards from "Excellence in Media" as
Best Male Gospel Quartet, Best Gospel Album, and Best International Radio
Broadcast. In 1988 they received the "Gold Angel Award" for achievement as the
Oldest Continuous Gospel Quartet in the world. They’ve recorded and sung in 28
languages on over 100 albums, and toured more than 60 different countries.
The Heralds were the first Gospel group to tour the People’s Republic of
China after that great country opened its borders to groups from the west.
They’ve participated in Evangelistic Crusades in all of the major cities in
Cuba. Their concert tours have taken them to every country in North, Central,
and South America, all of Africa, all of the Far East, and all of the island
nations of the Atlantic and Pacific. From Point Barrow to Punta Arenas, from
Vancouver to Vladivostok, their music has touched the lives of millions
worldwide through public concerts, international radio broadcast, and television
presentations.
The Heralds have also served as musical support for many other Christian
ministries: Food for the Hungry, the Christian Booksellers Association, the
National Association of Religious Broadcasters, Excellence in Media, the
Protestant Health and Welfare Association, the National Association of
Evangelicals, It Is Written, the Voice of Prophecy, Christ for the World, the
Baptist World Alliance, the Greater Pittsburg, Charismatic Conference, the
US/China Education Foundation, La Voz de la Esperanza, and many, many
others.
Included in every concert is a special section for children. The focus of
their music is Jesus Christ – His person, life, death, resurrection, ascension,
and return – as the only sure hope of salvation. Every concert concludes with a
public invitation to receive Jesus as Savior. Literally thousands, young and
old, respond every year.
