Level 10 (Grade 4)

In the first unit, "Growing Is Quiet," pupils meet children their own age and with them face some of the problems of growing up. A mother rabbit, a killer tiger, and a prize-winning alley cat highlight the characters in Unit 2, "Clues to Nature’s Secrets."

Pupils expand their horizons in Unit 3, "Signs, Symbols, and Codes," with a fascinating overview of the world of communication. The next unit, "Long-Ago Yesterdays," enables pupils to read the story of North America’s growth in the deeds of young heroines.

Unit 5, "In Another’s Moccasins," involves pupils in the ageless wisdom and culture of the North American Indian. The text concludes with the book-length selection, The Case of the Elevator Duck, a simple and delightful story of a displaced duck, a youthful Sherlock Holmes, and a bereft little duck-lover.

The Student Activity Set includes the Skilpak (142 pages, black & white), Criterion Exercises (40 pages), and Studybook (128 pages, color). The Skilpak and Criterion Exercises are also available as a set (without the Studybook).
