Bob and Treva Burgess known as “The China Burgesses,” have each given more than 40 years of service to the Seventh-day Adventist Church. They served overseas for15 years in five different countries. Their last overseas assignment was in China, directing the ADRA village projects. The Burgesses taught in a Bejing University so they could receive a resident visa to live in China. The Bright Side of China contains real life stories and experiences regarding their two years in China. It also contains historical events leading to the beginning and growth of the Adventist mission in China. The Burgesses never lost sight of God’s promise to them and the people of China: “ ‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future’ ” (Jeremiah 29:11). China has new hope because the mission of ADRA was and is still there.
