Quick Overview

Quick, what did you have for dinner two months, three weeks, and six days ago? If you’re a little fuzzy on the details, you’re, well, normal. It’s easy to forget something you’re not continually thinking about. Out of sight, out of mind, right?

Unfortunately, thinking primarily about what’s in front of us, i.e., electronic gadgets, squabbling children, or the old woman in church who won’t stop whispering to her friend during the service, blocks out some really important stuff. Take, for example, the weighty matters of personal identity, ultimate purpose, and eternal destination.

Karl Haffner’s wit and wisdom combine in this lightheartedly serious exploration of three questions to which our souls demand answers: Who am I?
Why am I here?
Where am I going?

Living with the answers scribbled on 3 x 5 cards plastered before our eyeballs might reset our priorities for about 30 minutes. Maybe that’s why God said something about inscribing His priorities on our hearts.

Karl Haffner

KARL HAFFNER has two master’s degrees and a doctorate. He preaches, has authored several books, and still dreams of playing a game of golf with Tiger Woods (fat chance!). He also loves good stories, frequent flier miles, and ice cream—he even orders broccoli a la mode. Karl has hosted a weekly broadcast on Positive Life Radio and has written hundreds of articles published in many different journals. He is amazed daily by God’s acceptance and is committed to communicating that grace to others.

Absolutely loved it!

I'm a fan of Karl Haffner's preaching, and I enjoy his books. This one did not disappoint! As you can guess from the title, he ultimately says our destiny is to be with Jesus. However, it's a wonderful journey from page 1 to 127 to see how he "colors it in" with stories, quotes, Bible texts and explanations. It's easy to read yet packed with deep truths. I have so many pages dog-eared that I hope to share with others.

Like, "God's plan for your life may be more than you dare to imagine. Don't limit the Almighty with your myopic vision (p.63)." Just think of what God has in store for you! Follow Him and hang on for an exciting ride!

And this excellent advice, "So try this: surrender every decision today, big and small, to Christ. Live in Jesus every moment (p.84)." He shares detailed (and funny!) examples of surrender, and concludes that it's all about your relationship with Jesus.

So I highly recommend this book. It's one that will be lent from my personal library many times. Love the cover, too!
