Advice From a Pro

Elder Detamore brought thousands of former and missing members back into the church. And he’s happy to share how he did it. As he tells one exciting story after another, you learn the practical principles that gave his ministry worldwide success.

Detamore makes it easy for any compassionate person to start ministering to missing members. He tells where to find names, what to say, and what not to say. He has specific guidance for reclaiming people in 26 different situations—from busy professionals to victims of chemical dependency. This advice comes from solid experience and an abiding concern for the lost. "I want to go home," he said. "But I don’t want to go empty-handed."

AUTHOR BIOGRAPHY:

Fordyce W. Detamore

Fordyce Detamore (1908-1980) is regarded as one of the most successful and well-known Adventist evangelists of his time. During his long association with the Voice of Prophecy Evangelism Association he preached in all the major cities of the United States and Canada as well as Hong Kong, Manila, Singapore, Indonesia, and Australia.

An innovator, Detamore was the first major evangelist to shorten campaigns to three or four weeks and to use Bible correspondence courses. He made a specialty of working with former church members, and rebaptized thousands of them in his 50 years of ministry. Noted for making hundreds of visits in homes and workplaces during each of his crusades, he shares in this volume the principles he used with outstanding success.
