Quick Overview

A China adventure for a new Adventist girl!

It’s 1925 in Portland,Oregon when a missionary—Dr. Miller—visits nine-year-old Alice Stewart’s church on Sabbath. Suddenly, everyone seems to be talking about China! At first, Alice cares more about her new birthday dress. But when Mother and Daddy decide to become missionaries to China, she starts to pay attention!

Alice dreams of parading down the streets of Shanghai, but she soon learns that being a missionary is not all fun and games. Chinese gangs are dangerous, and she’ll have to leave most of her dolls behind.

In addition to educating children about the Adventist heritage and hope, each episode in this four-book historical series will teach young readers about the land and people of China. Titles are:

1. Alice Says Goodbye

2. Hidden Notes and High Seas

3. The Man in the Blue Skirt

4. A Prayer for Mother

My daughter's favorite series!

This is a great Christian fiction series for elementary-school-aged readers! Got these and the Heather, Adventist Girl set, for my 6-year-old daughter, who is an avid reader. She loves these and re-reads them time and again, carrying them in the car and even sleeps over at her cousins'. She keeps asking me to buy another set of Adventist girl books, which I plan to do. I like them because they exciting in the sense of the simple things in life, rather than having fairies or magic stuff happen and because they stress faith, and because it they build good character. I wish there were more books of this quality. A must have!
