God’s 800-Number: P-R-A-Y-E-R talks about the ancient phone service we have available to us that connects us to God. To call, all you have to do is kneel, close your eyes, and say: “Father.” The cost? Free. But the benefits of making this call are wonderful and eternal.

Manuel and Nancy Vasquez have drawn from their years of experience in pastoral ministry and administration in the Seventh-day Adventist Church to provide the counsel and practical instruction contained in this book. Time in its pages will surely result in more time spent talking with God.

AUTHOR BIOGRAPHY:

Dr. Manuel Vásquez

Manuel Vasquez was converted to Adventism midway through his four-year tour of military duty in the U.S. Navy. Besides his regular duties as a second-class carpenter's mate, he was asked to be the Protestant lay leader aboard his attack troop transport ship, the U.S.S. Bexar APA 237.

After his discharge from military service, Manuel attended Union College, where he received his B.A. degree in religion. Then it was on to Andrews University for a master's of divinity, and later he earned a doctor of ministry degree from the same university. His doctoral dissertation was on New Age Holistic Health: Implication for the Seventh-day Adventist Faith and Practice.

Manuel has studied the New Age phenomena for over a decade and written three books on the subject, two of which were published by Pacific Press(r): The Danger Within (1993) and The Mainstreaming of New Age (1998). The third book was written for the Sabbath School Department of the General Conference, entitle The New Age (1997). Manuel has written numerous articles for our church journals in both Spanish and English. He has lectured at many churches, camp meetings, colleges, worker's meetings, and conventions.

Manuel has traveled to 48 countries and has been completely around the world once during his Navy tour. He has served the church as a pastor, missionary (Ecuador), departmental director, and administrator.

For fun Manuel enjoys running, carpentry, gardening, reading, writing, and traveling. ""Besides American cuisine, I like Mexican, Caribbean, Italian, and Chinese food. But I love authentic New York pizza and strawberry fruit popsicles. Another 'love' of mine is people. I enjoy being with them, talking to them about their needs, their interest, and the Lord. I enjoy washing and polishing my car on a Sunday afternoon. I enjoy spending time with my cream colored chow whose name is Manny Bear. Most of all, I enjoy being with my lovely wife, Nancy. We've spent the past 35 years keeping the flame of romance alive and burning for each other."
