Quick Overview

Of course, I’ve forgiven him, but . . .

You find yourself mentioning the offense to a friend, remembering how the incident made you feel, and how it affected your life. Afterward, you feel guilty. Why? Because you’re a Christian. Christians are to forgive and forget, right?

This book is for Christians who believe that forgiveness is important to their spiritual journey, but who may not understand what forgiveness really is. It’s for those who just can’t seem to move on from a deep hurt.

Lourdes E. Morales-Gudmundsson, Ph.D. has presented seminars on forgiveness for over 25 years, nationally and internationally. She will help you to understand what forgiveness is and what it isn’t, why it is so difficult to get over certain offenses, and how to know for sure that you have forgiven. This book will move you deeply and open the door to self-renewal and reconciliation.

"Grounded in the Christian Scriptures, Lourdes Morales-Gudmundsson tells the reader about forgiving from the viewpoints of people who have struggled with it, psychologists who have studied it, and theologians who have mined Scripture for it, and devout Christians who have prayed through it."— Everett L. Worthington, Jr. author of Forgiving and Reconciling and The Power of Forgiving, and professor of psychology at Virginia Commonwealth University.

"I Forgive You, But . . . is an intelligent and well-written explication of forgiveness from the creation of the grudge, to the resolution, into healing. Dr. Morales-Gudmundsson delves expertly and deeply into the subject. Her book is a must read for any Christian unsure of why or how to forgive.”— Dr. Frederic Luskin, author of Forgive for Good, and director of Stanford University's Forgiveness Project.

AUTHOR BIOGRAPHY:

Lourdes Morales-Gudmundson

Lourdes Morales-Gudmundsson was born to Venezuelan-Puerto Rican parents in East Los Angeles. After graduating from La Sierra College, her passion for the study of Spanish literature took her to Spain where she took master’s classes at the Universidad de Valencia. Subsequently, she landed her first college teaching job at Atlantic Union College. While teaching at AUC, Lourdes recorded an album in Spanish, “Senderos de Paz” (Pathways of Peace) with Chapel-Bridge.

Lourdes soon married Reynir Gudmundsson—her “Icelandic heartthrob” as she puts it. Lourdes and her husband spent five years teaching at Antillian College in Puerto Rico. After which she completed her doctoral studies at Brown University and taught at the University of Connecticut for eleven years. It was during this time Lourdes started a Spanish-language TV program in New York City called “Palabras de Vida”(Words of Life) that ran from 1990-1993. It was also during this time that Lourdes began studying the topic of forgiveness and developed a seminar titled “I Forgive You, But…”

Lourdes has presented her seminar on forgiveness all over the United States, as well as in Panama, Brazil, Bermuda, and Iceland. She is currently a professor and chair of the department of modern languages at La Sierra University in California.

Lourdes and her husband have one married daughter, Carmen, who is an occupational therapist. Lourdes enjoys singing, playing the guitar and piano, and traveling.
